KimmyB® began after I received several expensive ‘luxury’ candles as house-warming gifts when I moved into a new build flat in Horsham. Not to sound ungrateful, but they didn’t burn well, they left lots of waste and produced an alarming amount of soot. After doing some research on Paraffin wax I realised how contradictory it was to receive a house warming present that was essentially introducing harmful toxins into your new environment! After this I got a bit of a ‘bee in my bonnet’ and began to experiment with other natural wax options. In October 2016 – after much trialling and lots of mistakes – I decided pure eco-soy wax was the best performer on all fronts, I started making candles for family and friends. In early 2017 I saw an advert for a Craft Fair at Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking and decided to take the leap! In 2018 I overhauled my branding and worked on refreshed packaging. Fast forward to 2024 (#covid) we attended our first trade event in Harrogate, it was a great success with 6 new stockists so far and several conversations underway for launching in 2025. I’m feeling positive about what the new year will bring, however the most important thing to me is to stay true to my (currently unhighlighted) roots – keep it authentic, champion a sustainable lifestyle, and maintain KimmyB® as a Female lead British Business.
